The Collegiate Shag workshop will be at:
St Matthews Church,11 Summerhill St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 6EJ
Classes will be run by Peter Ayres & Aila Floyd, two great dancers who have been working together for more than 10 years, and help run and teach classes at Shag Pile (London).
Both Aila and Peter take inspiration from the original shag dancers, and at this session they’ll give insights into a host of classic moves, building upon them with their own unique spin, and on top of solid Shag basics.
We’ll connect figures to build sequences of moves ready for the dance floor. We’ll also look at musicality, with breaks, pauses, and fills to fit a broad range of tunes!
The class format will be up to 4 hours of classes in total with regular breaks and a break for lunch ( not provided), followed by a tea dance!( Cakes provided)
Hot drinks & snacks will be provided. There is a kitchen with access to hot & cold water (to fill up a water bottle if you would like to bring your own) and if possible bring your own mug for the hot drinks.
