Join Swing Tyne for an exciting Balboa workshop weekend, with our amazing teachers

 

Alberto & Elena,

They are Balboa and Slow Balboa dancers and instructors, known for their elegant style and fluid dynamics. With backgrounds in contemporary dance and dedicated swing training, they bring a unique perspective to Balboa, focusing on harmonious partnership and exploring the dance's subtle nuances. Featured instructors at international events, they have achieved numerous placements in major Balboa competitions worldwide.

 

Carolin & Iacapo,

In both her dancing and teaching, Carolin values emotional presence, relaxed connection, and a balanced partnership. She is known for her beautiful shapes, textured footwork, and nuanced musicality. As an instructor, she combines clarity with empathy—offering structured, methodical classes while tuning into her student's needs, knowing when to challenge and when to support. Her teaching strikes a thoughtful balance between technique and the sheer joy of dancing. With a sharp analytical eye and a structured approach, Iacopo has a real knack for breaking down rhythm, movement and body awareness into clear, accessible concepts – perfect for dancers of all levels. And if he gets a tad too enthusiastic mid-class? That’s just the Italian charm coming through.

 

 

We now have 3 Stream levels to tease and tempt you:-

Improvers -You have started your journey and know the basics in Pure Bal : single time, double time, come around, traveling steps, side steps, crab walk, paddles. In Bal Swing : transitioning from out & in, throw-out, lollies, swivels etc. and are now seeking much much more.

 

Intermediates - you've been on a journey you have been dancing for several years now at all tempos, with many workshops and classes under your belt AND you are able to use the knowledge with whomever you dance with. You know all the basics and various variations, seek more technique & musicality.

 

Invitational* -You have been dancing for a long time now, participate in Balboa festivals home and abroad and you are known within the wider scene. You have mastered all the basics as well as various footwork syncopations, triple steps and are not put off by higher tempo music.

 

All streams will have 6hrs of lessons with both teaching couples (3 hrs each).

Saturday Auditions, Lessons and evening Social dance at St James and Basils Church Hall, Fenham Hall Drive, Newcastle NE4 9XP- Free on street carparking

*Invitational level (by audition only for Intermediate ticket holders who wish to apply for this level. Audition will be held at 10:00hrs -10:15 Saturday morning at St James and Basils Church Hall. The Teacher’s decision is final and please respect their decisions. Please note there will be limited places for this level).

** Teachers reserve the right to move students to a lower class for the benefit of the individual and other students.
