A Balboa weekend workshop with Izzy & Louis

At Swing Tyne we aim to provide a variety of opportunities for all levels of dancers to focus on improving their technique. After having organised a number of beginner, improver, Intermediate Balboa workshops in recent months-

This

weekend one is for Improver PLUS/Intermediate dancers!

Izzy and

Louis from the Balboa collective in London will be providing 8 hours of Pure

Bal and Bal Swing over the 2 days in the heart of Newcastle.(Saturday &

Sunday)

Izzy and

Louis met at a London social, bonded over their love of Balboa and have been

partnered up ever since!

Having

competed in the UK and abroad, they are determined to spread their enthusiasm

and love of balboa to the masses and are committed to help grow and nurture the

London scene.

Izzy has

been dancing since she was 3, having done jazz, tap and ballet before stumbling

across Lindy hop at a jazz concert. Learning swing dancing in Australia, she

moved to London with a passion for Balboa, Shag and Lindy and is determined for

the various scenes to become more intertwined.

After a

fortuitous injury, Louis decided to try out swing dancing classes to help him

recover. He instantly fell in love with swing and hasn't looked back. After

spending 5 years learning and traveling to dance the Lindy Hop, the Balboa

caught Louis' eye and what started out as a curiosity quickly turned into a

passion. One night while social dancing in London, Louis met Isabella and with

her help and inspiration he committed himself to learning this magical dance!

You can

follow along with their antics on Instagram at @izzyandlouis

Pure balboa : single time, double time, come around, traveling steps, side

steps, crab walk, paddle .

In

Bal-Swing : transition, out & in, throw out, lollies, swivels and some

variations. Now you want to go on improving, seek more technique,

musicality, and different variations.

You will

attend classes regularly, hardly ever miss a chance to dance Balboa and even

attend some workshops and festivals. You want to perfect your technique, expand

your vocabulary of moves, explore the connection and work on your musicality.

You are

comfortable to dance to  this song (218 BPM): please

listen and dance to the song to verify this. You should be able to dance Balboa

to this song as an individual without the need for a partner.
